The Kaleidoscope Classic is based on proprietary intellectual property. Over 20 man-years in development, this exciting invention is the work of two brilliant Australians :
Inventor / psychologist, Dr. Mark T Wood and mathematician / physicist, Frank H Dyksterhuis.
The enigmatic Dr. Mark Wood is a psychologist and inventor.
Born in Springfield, Ohio, USA, Dr. Wood became Mental Math Champion at age 13 and Chess Champion of schools at age 14.
Having travelled through Europe and the Middle East by the age of 21, he relinquished his US Citizenship renouncing violence and racial tension as a way of life triggered by the assassination of President John F Kennedy.
He then spent 5 years in Sweden (between 1964 and 1969) where he taught English to the Merchant Marines, Swedish Air Force and Ford Motor Co. He graduated from the University of Uppsala with majors in Psychology & Education and a minor in Ethnography and went on to attain his Master of Social Science with First Class Honours from the same university.
Upon moving to New Zealand, he acquired a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Waikato studying Altruism as the subject for his Doctoral thesis.
Dr. Wood came to Australia, his adopted home, in 1976. Over almost two decades, he has worked with the Australian Government and lectured at four Universities. He has published scientific papers including a publication in the Journal of General Psychology. He has been a member of a number of Australian, New Zealand and Swedish Professional Societies and currently is Registered with The Psychologist’s Board of Queensland and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
Dr. Wood is the originator (1989) of the products being launched and is our visionary, face and voice.
His incessant drive and passion and his vision for a world that derives pure enjoyment from his products provide the soul for this Team.
Frank Dyksterhuis is a brilliant mathematician / physicist.
He holds a science degree, majoring in physics (with mathematics and chemistry as electives) from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, and a Master of Science from the University of Queensland, Australia, where he held the position of Senior Research Scientist.
Frank was manager of the Solar Pond Project within the Solar Energy Research Centre at the University of Queensland. He went on to establish his own company to commercialise his work in solar ponds and also published a number of articles on his work.
The combination of his expertise in mathematics and physics with his keen commitment to perfection has made Frank the perfect addition to Dr. Wood’s inventive brilliance.
As co inventor, Frank has made invaluable contributions to the conception and development of the range of Dr. Wood Challenge Centre products and continues to refine, analyse and improve them!
His expertise in mathematics when combined with his computer simulation and modeling capabilities makes him a pivotal member of Team Wood.
